What it does

When an assistant answers “what’s the best tool for this?”, it often shows its sources: review sites, “best tools” lists, comparison articles and forum threads. If you’re not on those pages, you’re unlikely to be in the answer. Your monthly check shows which pages get cited. This playbook gets you onto them, honestly.

What you need

  • The pages cited in your monthly AI check
  • Accurate facts about what you do, for whom, with sources
  • Customers who’d write an honest review

How it works

  1. List the pages that get cited

Google Sheets: paste into A1, one row per cited page
Cited page	Kind of page	Times cited this month	Are we on it?	How to get on it	Owner	Status
[URL]	[REVIEW SITE / LIST / ARTICLE / FORUM]	[NUMBER]	[YES / NO]	[E.G. CLAIM OUR PROFILE]	[NAME]
  2. Fix your own profiles first

On every review site that gets cited, claim your profile and make it complete and accurate: what you do, who it’s for, and how it’s priced if you publish that.

  3. Ask customers for honest reviews

Real customers, honest reviews, and nothing the site’s rules forbid. Many review sites ban paying for reviews or only asking happy customers.

    Email to a customer
    Subject: a favour

[FIRST NAME] - would you write a short, honest review of us on [SITE]? It helps other [THEIR ROLE]s decide. Good or bad, I'd value it.

  4. Write to list and article authors with facts

A short note: what you do, who it’s for, one sourced fact, and an offer to answer questions. No adjectives, no pitch. One or two a week, starting with the pages cited most.

  5. Answer in the forums that get cited

Real questions, honest answers, and always say it’s your company (see catch people asking for a recommendation).

  6. Check again next month

Rerun your AI check, and note which pages now mention you and whether the answers changed.

What good looks like

The pages assistants cite for your category have accurate facts about you, and your monthly check shows you named more often.

Mistakes to skip

  • Fake or paid reviews. Review sites remove them, and buyers can tell.
  • Pitching list authors. Send facts and sources, not adjectives.
  • Chasing every page at once. Start with the ones cited most.
