Send yourself a weekly numbers report
Lock your starting numbers, then get one short report every Monday on what moved, against the line you set on day one.

What it does
Most founders check revenue when they’re worried and pipeline when someone asks. A weekly report on the same numbers, against the same starting line, turns “how’s it going?” into a one-minute read: what moved, what slipped, and where the new pipeline came from.
What you need
- Your CRM, for opportunities, stages and win rate
- Your billing tool, for MRR and churn
- A spreadsheet, and Slack or email to post it
- Later, Zapier, n8n or your CRM’s own reports, to automate it
How it works
Lock your starting numbers
MRR, qualified opportunities a month, win rate, sales cycle, deal size and churn, all as of one date. Every report compares against these, so write down where each one came from.
Pick the weekly numbers, and keep them
New qualified opportunities, pipeline created, deals won and lost, win rate over the last 13 weeks, cycle time, MRR added and lost, MRR against your doubling line, and which signals and campaigns produced the new opportunities. Pick them once. A report that changes its numbers every month can’t show a trend.
Build the sheet
Google Sheets: paste into A1, put today’s MRR in G2, then add a row each week and fill G downWeek ending New qualified opps Deals won Deals lost MRR added MRR lost MRR at week end Where the new opps came from Start 60000 [DATE] 6 2 3 3400 900 =G2+E3-F3 Signals 3, referrals 2, inbound 1
Win rate is deals won divided by won plus lost, over the last 13 weeks. One week on its own is too noisy to read.
Post it every Monday, with three lines on top
What moved, what slipped, and the one thing you’re fixing this week. Then the numbers.
Prompt for Claude or ChatGPT, with this week’s and last week’s rows pasted inHere are this week's numbers, last week's, and my starting numbers from [DATE]. Write a short report for Slack: - Three lines first: what moved, what slipped, and the one thing to fix this week. - Then each number, with the change from last week and from the start. - Then where this week's new opportunities came from. Plain words, no hype. If a number is missing, say it's missing. Don't estimate it.
Automate it once you trust it
Run it by hand for a month first. When the numbers are right every week, connect your CRM and billing tool with Zapier, n8n or your CRM’s own reports, and post it to Slack on a schedule.
What good looks like
A one-minute read every Monday that tells you whether you’re on pace, what slipped, and what you’re fixing this week.
Mistakes to skip
- Changing what you measure every few weeks.
- Reporting activity, like emails sent and calls made, instead of what moved revenue.
- Automating before the numbers are right. A wrong number posted every week is worse than none.
